Gotta Keep Your Head Up

Coat: H&M / Top: Asos / Pants: H&M / Sunnies: NastyGal / Shoes: Elizabeth & James
Photography: Pepe Almazán
Finally I could get my hands on these incredible photographs that, my friend and professional photographer, Pepe Almazán took of me when I was living in New York City.
By seeing how amazing this photos turned out to be, not only gave me a smile on my face but it brought a tear – lot of mixed emotions! It is funny how in less than a year a lot of things can happen, things you never thought of and how different yet mature you can turn out to be.
I am blessed and humble by all the opportunities that life has brought me and all the lessons I have learned throughout this year. I am even more grateful to all the people that has stood by my side during good and bad times and all the incredible new people I met during my journey that I now call friends.
I look at these photos and hold on to those happy memories I lived and I feel proud of all the things I have accomplished and yet the ones I’m still aiming.
Like my photos, I stand head-up-high just going forward… and of course, with a fabulous look!
Love,
S

New city, new looks, new posts: That will be The Street Styler from now on.
I love blogging about my personal theory of casual yet fun street style – however writing my blog was not my priority number one. I consider myself a workaholic… yes, the first step is to admit it.
My work has always been my priority: the fact of developing myself into a young professional independent woman is something so exciting and mysterious for what I live every day. They say “Do what you love and never work a day in your life” and that is something I always want my life to be about so, I am starting to find a good balance between my jobs and my blog, which I now see as equals.
As long as I do what I love I can be proud enough to share it with you all – be it my professional career or just some humble styling advice.
Do what you gotta do to be happy and don’t be ashamed of sharing it with the world! You never know who can be inspired.

Love,
S

P.S. Since I moved to Mexico City I guess it is time to start writing in both English and Spanish!

Before the fresh breeze of the Fall hit the city, I needed to wear my favorite baby blue midi skirt. Although at the beginning I felt half-naked, I must admit this is one of my favorite looks – flirty, girly and polished. This proves that getting out of your comfort zone sometimes can turn into something great.
Where did I wore this outfit? Well, I needed to take advantage and wore this beauty for Ricardo Seco’s fashion show. Yes, a genius/proud mexican designer presenting his collection at New York Fashion Week.

Mexico is rich in culture, colorful clothing, delicious food and joyful people, so this look is just what I needed to wear to represent my country in such an important event. I added a white crop top to make my look more bright and girly; the lace detail on the bottom creates a silhouette that makes the look more sophisticated for the occasion.

Nothing makes me more proud of my country than when I see people fighting for their dreams and making them happen, and so is the case of Mr. Seco and his “Dream” collection presented at the World Trade Center during New York Fashion Week. It was an honor being invited to such an amazing presentation. Looking at his Sporty-chic black and white looks walking down the runway combined with colorful accessories that represent our mexican culture brought a smile to my face and reminded me proudly that #wearemexico !

And I’m back! As they say: better late than never. There is no excuse not to write a weekly blog post yet when your vision is to create something good and entertaining to the reader, you rather take time to make it happen and bring something not good but amazing.
For today’s post, my friends took me to Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge. I heard of it before but never thought it would be a habitat so big and so close to home. Beautiful yet scary to see nature in action; Santa Ana is a place to go hiking, take your family for a picnic or even just go and walk around to disconnect from the world. Sometimes it is good to take a break from everything and everyone.
The fact that I’ve been living here for a couple of year made me think I already knew the Rio Grande Valley but then I realize there’s always something new to see.
Love,
S

Putting red and lace together sounds too daring yet that’s why I love ASOS and its variety of unique skater dresses perfect for day-to-night spring situations. Today’s dress was actually my Valentine’s day outfit (cliché) although that day I styled it with a denim jacket and metallic oxfords – yeah, I like to keep it casual. Afterwards, I never wore it again until a more sophisticated occasion came along and that’s when I took off the denim jacket, show off the beautiful back cleavage and added a pair of black Louboutin. I might not be the most dresses-lover but sometimes you just can’t deny a good deal.

A small town girl always needs to take a break – even though that means driving 4 hours to a bigger town like Austin, TX. My weekend there consisted of day-to-night concerts, frozen drinks, lots of walking, floppy hats, leather booties, denim shorts, and amazing food… otherwise known as SXSW.

South by Southwest is a music, film and interactive festival that happens once a year where people from all over the world come together to celebrate and take advantage of the amazing events happening around downtown Austin. Yes, I needed to take a break and sure I did. The best part of it? The careless/casual street style fashion with a mix of bohemian, grunge and rock and roll. Music definitely brings people together.

What was your favorite part of Spring Break?

S
