Gotta Keep Your Head Up

Coat: H&M / Top: Asos / Pants: H&M / Sunnies: NastyGal / Shoes: Elizabeth & James
Photography: Pepe Almazán
Finally I could get my hands on these incredible photographs that, my friend and professional photographer, Pepe Almazán took of me when I was living in New York City.
By seeing how amazing this photos turned out to be, not only gave me a smile on my face but it brought a tear – lot of mixed emotions! It is funny how in less than a year a lot of things can happen, things you never thought of and how different yet mature you can turn out to be.
I am blessed and humble by all the opportunities that life has brought me and all the lessons I have learned throughout this year. I am even more grateful to all the people that has stood by my side during good and bad times and all the incredible new people I met during my journey that I now call friends.
I look at these photos and hold on to those happy memories I lived and I feel proud of all the things I have accomplished and yet the ones I’m still aiming.
Like my photos, I stand head-up-high just going forward… and of course, with a fabulous look!
Love,
S

Crop It Up

Top: Nastygal / Skirt: Zara / Necklace: Serendipia Accesorios / Sandals: Zara

For a nice walk in the park is always good to wear something comfortable and in this case, light weight – oh summer time hot-madness! I spent this weekend with my cousin in Alerces Park here in Mexico City and what-a-weekend we chose to spend outside with the heat above our head.
For that I decided to step out of my comfort zone and wear my typical black and white midi skirt with this Nastygal black crop top I haven’t worn in forever! Yes I might not have the best abs but I love myself as I am and I love playing more with my clothes – adding pink sandals to a kinda-formal outfit was a challenge and not so convincing but hey! I needed some color and nothing better than nice summer sandals to wear for a walk in the park so why not! I was like my personal touch.
Always dare to play your game different, never settle with common.
Love,

The Comeback

Shirt: Quinn / Skirt: H&M / Shoes: BCBGeneration

A great sunny afternoon deserves a quick post. I came back from New York to spend time with my family, hang out with my boyfriend and catch up with my lifetime friends – now that we cleared that out it’s time for a come back.
This is my “in-between-decisions-vacations” post, or at least that’s how I call it. I’ve been taking time for myself between home and the RGV, but now I’m ready to take over once again – this time from the beautiful Mexico City! My grandma says I’m never steady… I say, I am at the right moment, at the right time and at the perfect age to not stay steady. Taking chances and opportunities as it goes it’s the most rewarding feeling and, win or loose, the experience of the adventure to the unknown is what makes my life worth it and happy.
Here at The Street Styler, you will probably see outfit twists and even more colorful backgrounds with the beauty of this city, and even though it will be a challenge at first, I’m sure there’s a lot more to come.
Hello Mexico!!

Hola México!

Top: H&M / Pants: Quinn / Shoes: Forever21 / Necklace: Serendipia / Bag: Zac Posen
Finally back in Mexico! Actually, first time for me in Mexico city which is way different than the north. Feels so good to, after some chaos, get away and enjoy the simple things in life for a couple of days: Nice weather, delicious food and a good outfit without layers!
I love the fact of mixing oversized sweaters with sandals – it is about keeping the outfit interesting and not so cliché. When you have weather around the 60’s it is a must to play around with it.

The lower the temperature the higher the boots – that is my new motto. Also, the chunkier the sweater… definitely. My skin and body never got use to the extreme low temperatures in the city – no matter how many layers or heat-patches I wore, the cold got me every single time. Thank God for the extra thick modern fabrics! I am amazed that in situations like Fashion Week, no matter the rain, snow or dry-cold air, people will still managed their ways to look fabulous! I personally thought in keeping myself warm, I even had to grab an ultra hot cup of coffee every time and even with that I got compliments – who would’ve known even coffee could be an accessory. Only in New York.
Luckily I ran away from the cold and came back home – no more layers for a while yet I definitely left a part of me under that snow.
Home is where the heart belongs – I strongly believe in that. No matter what you do or where you do it, sooner or later if its meant to be you will always find your way back. Even as my dad says: “A star will always shine no matter from where you see it.”

S

Uphill battle, I look good when I climb
I’m ferocious precautious
I get crackadotious, I’m not gonna stop
I like the view from the top

You talk that
Blah blah that la la, that rah rah sh
And I’m so done, I’m so over it
Sometimes I mess up, I eff up, I hit and miss
But I’m okay, I’m cool with it

I still fall on my face sometimes and I
Can’t color inside the lines ’cause
I’m perfectly incomplete
I’m still working on my masterpiece and I
I wanna hang with the greatest gotta
Way to go, but it’s worth the wait, no
You haven’t seen the best of me
I’m still working on my masterpiece

Making Memories

There is nothing better than sharing your dreams with your friends. However, there is nothing better than making those dreams into goals and sharing them with friends that actually dream your dreams.
I once was told that during college is when you start finding your own people – the people of your “own kind.” Sounds weird and I actually didn’t believe it until I realized that the people I spend most of my time with are the ones I have everything in common with.
It can be the fact of moving to the same city or even working on the same industry or better yet, both! This is the mysterious yet fascinating thing about life and I am so blessed to have found my own.
That being said, I thought it would be cool to share some of their fabulous style in my blog throughout the month. Black-on-black has become one of my favorite trends and the most easy-throw-on in the morning… guess my friends thought the same way. This proves that even though you share same interests and dreams with other people it is funny how each one has its uniqueness – look closer.

New Year, New York

Coat: Zara / Shirt: H&M (similar here)/ Leggings: Quinn / Boots: Forever 21 / Bag: Topshop

I’m so thankful for 2014 – I enjoyed it more than I thought.
To start off, I chop my hair and kept the look all year long, even cut it shorter, I felt certain liberty with it and I’m having so much fun with this look. Other highlights of my year include blogging for The Street Styler, my 2 year anniversary with the love of my life and a lot of events including fashion week and weddings!
Also, I moved out  from the apartment I lived all my college years with my two wonderful roomates (that after all those years of happy-cry-stress moments became more like sisters) and moved to the city I love the most, New York. This moving changed my life, I’m happy to be able to work in the field I love and the one I work so hard to get into – I’m grateful to had the chance to meet new extremely talented people that now I call my friends and to be able to explore my creativity in a city where anyone can accomplish anything as long as you want it badly and you work for it.
I feel so blessed to have my family, my boyfriend and friends supporting me and loving me every step of the way – 2015 will be new, mysterious and with a lot of changes… amazing-good changes!
Always remember to never loose faith, take every opportunity as it comes, Don’t let anybody make you believe you dream too high,  always look forward and never, not for one instant, doubt of yourself.
Thank you all for being part of my year!
Love,
S
