Formal Wear Twist

Formal wear doesn’t always mean wearing a dress… right?
It is funny how people freak out when they read the word “formal” on the etiquette section of their invitation. I actually love the word because to me, it means making it interesting and presentable for the occasion. Why wear a dress every time you see the word FORMAL? Let’s be honest ladies, we take a tremendous amount of time to find the perfect little dress to wear it once… for 2 or 3 hours… and then that’s it. After the very expected event we will just hide it behind our closet, isn’t that a waste of time and money? I have been there but I must say I have learned how to buy pieces I can mix and match for any type of occasion. I always take Olivia Palermo as an example!
I believe it also depends on the culture – we as mexicans like to take everything over the top and although it is fun to dress extremely nice for cocktails or weddings, you can also learn how to play with accessories and transform something casual into formal.
Of course I wouldn’t wear this look for a wedding but a formal dinner will work absolutely just fine.

S

Hello March! The month where spring begins and when pastel colors start hitting the streets. I’m not a lot into trends but there’s a je ne sais quoi about Spring that I absolutely adore. Even though the tricky weather doesn’t always let me wear my favorite pair of sandals, it’s about playing with what you have from winter and summer and just mix and match all – period.

As you can see the statement of this post are the coat and hat; simple yet stylish. I might say good-bye to my favorite pink coat once the heat settles in the RGV, but my hat well, you might see my hats… a lot!

What’s your favorite Spring staple?

Love,
S

They say you should take advantage of school and enjoy it as much as you can because once you’re out, you’ll miss it. I loved school yet I never thought I would miss it. Maybe is because these were the first school days and instead of walking to class like the rest of the students I now have to wake up for work… and maybe to the gym. You start changing one routine for another but the good thing about it is that, besides not doing homework anymore, my school visits would be only to hang around with the friends I left, to talk to the professors that taught me everything I know and even to take some photographs like today’s blog post.
Suddenly your four years in college went by and now you’re starting a new chapter of huge life changes that only depend on you. At this point feels like slowly but sure, life is giving a full turn and is starting to settle.  Don’t over think, don’t plan so much ahead; set goals, work hard and let things flow. Sometimes everything turns better than you expect.

Love,
