Quintessential

Quintessential: Representing the most perfect or typical example of quality or class.
Whether you are wearing solid sober colors you can always add an essential piece to make your look a statement. A good leather jacket is always a must as well as a black pair of pants – you just have to find the silhouette that fits better to your body.
This weekend to go to the museum I wanted to wear an all-black look by Quinn, and to make it pop I added my favorite pair of metallic point shoes. Clean and simple.
Surprise factor? Take off the jacket and show off that open-back bodysuit for the night!
Love,
S

S

The lower the temperature the higher the boots – that is my new motto. Also, the chunkier the sweater… definitely. My skin and body never got use to the extreme low temperatures in the city – no matter how many layers or heat-patches I wore, the cold got me every single time. Thank God for the extra thick modern fabrics! I am amazed that in situations like Fashion Week, no matter the rain, snow or dry-cold air, people will still managed their ways to look fabulous! I personally thought in keeping myself warm, I even had to grab an ultra hot cup of coffee every time and even with that I got compliments – who would’ve known even coffee could be an accessory. Only in New York.
Luckily I ran away from the cold and came back home – no more layers for a while yet I definitely left a part of me under that snow.
Home is where the heart belongs – I strongly believe in that. No matter what you do or where you do it, sooner or later if its meant to be you will always find your way back. Even as my dad says: “A star will always shine no matter from where you see it.”

S

Uphill battle, I look good when I climb
I’m ferocious precautious
I get crackadotious, I’m not gonna stop
I like the view from the top

You talk that
Blah blah that la la, that rah rah sh
And I’m so done, I’m so over it
Sometimes I mess up, I eff up, I hit and miss
But I’m okay, I’m cool with it

I still fall on my face sometimes and I
Can’t color inside the lines ’cause
I’m perfectly incomplete
I’m still working on my masterpiece and I
I wanna hang with the greatest gotta
Way to go, but it’s worth the wait, no
You haven’t seen the best of me
I’m still working on my masterpiece

In honor of Valentine’s Day which is around the corner, I wanted to write this post. Even though my Valentine’s is a couple miles away from me right now, it doesn’t mean I have to stay home in PJ’s, drinking wine and watching Netflix… well, that sound like a great plan BUT it is also a day to celebrate friendships.
As I mentioned a blog before, after-college life is when you start meeting people of your own – those who understand how bad you need a glass of wine at 3pm, those who laugh with you even though they don’t get the joke (language barriers,) tell you what shoes to wear with an outfit you thought you would never try, those who would tell you how crappy you look and glam you up in the moment and most importantly, those who are there to listen to your struggles because they might be going through the same. Joel, from Moorehisstyle.com is definitely one of those friends… can’t you tell? I feel so blessed to have people like him in my life and I have a feeling these friendships are going on forever.

To all my fashionable-new-life-lasting friends: I LOVE YOU & Happy Valentine’s Day!

Love,
S

I’m so happy I could shoot in this skirt before the snow covered all the streets and make my everyday outfits an always-must-have-tights-on looks from now on… or at least until it gets a little bit warmer. You know how much I love making my outfits somewhat casual yet presentable and feminine for any occasion so, this time I went for a metallic pencil skirt with a plaid shirt and black leather boots to edgy it up. Score! My boyfriend loved this outfit for me, mainly because he is obsessed with Suits right now and reminds him of Rachel Zane – guess I need to start watching the show.
Speaking of suits and business attire, while I have been focus on my job and my career, one of my new year resolutions is to have time for myself and enjoy today. Simple. I have learned that no matter where you are, if you really want to accomplish something in life it is time to stand up and make it happen. Hard work pays off sooner or later so, it is good to enjoy the present – even though one day you are here and the next one you are somewhere else, there will always be ups and downs but everything do it with joy! Take time to do all your work and then grab a cup of coffee and walk around your neighborhood or get a spa day – Anything that makes you smile!
Afterwards you realize that things that stress you out turn out easier and better when you keep a positive attitude around yourself. Don’t wait for tomorrow to realize you missed something important of your days – work hard, be happy and don’t be afraid to wear a high-waist pencil skirt!

I’m so thankful for 2014 – I enjoyed it more than I thought.
To start off, I chop my hair and kept the look all year long, even cut it shorter, I felt certain liberty with it and I’m having so much fun with this look. Other highlights of my year include blogging for The Street Styler, my 2 year anniversary with the love of my life and a lot of events including fashion week and weddings!
Also, I moved out  from the apartment I lived all my college years with my two wonderful roomates (that after all those years of happy-cry-stress moments became more like sisters) and moved to the city I love the most, New York. This moving changed my life, I’m happy to be able to work in the field I love and the one I work so hard to get into – I’m grateful to had the chance to meet new extremely talented people that now I call my friends and to be able to explore my creativity in a city where anyone can accomplish anything as long as you want it badly and you work for it.
I feel so blessed to have my family, my boyfriend and friends supporting me and loving me every step of the way – 2015 will be new, mysterious and with a lot of changes… amazing-good changes!
Always remember to never loose faith, take every opportunity as it comes, Don’t let anybody make you believe you dream too high,  always look forward and never, not for one instant, doubt of yourself.
Thank you all for being part of my year!
Love,
S

December is my favorite month: The end of an amazing year, vacations, Christmas parties and of course, my birthday! I was so happy to spent my 24th birthday in the city I love the most with some of my closest friends. Even though I’m away from my family, I feel blessed to be where I am with people that cares about me and that made sure my birthday was a success.
One of my favorite gifts was of course being part of the second round of Piperlime – Moments of Chic. This is what I call an urban chic moment: the skinny dark jeans with high heel leather boots combined with a sequin black top for a night out with the girls in the city that never sleeps.
Thank you Piperlime for letting me be part of your family.
Love,
S

Even though it is not a mexican holiday, the fact of growing up between two wonderful countries gave me the chance to have the best of both worlds. Today I’m celebrating Thanksgiving with my cousin and some friends in the most traditional way possible which includes turkey, snow, wine, and New York City!
The most important thing about this holiday is of course, to be grateful. A holiday shouldn’t be an excuse to thank but it should be a day to bring the family together and remember that every day is a blessing and every day we should take at least one second to thank and tell that special person how much you care and how much they are changing your life. Even if it’s in the smallest way, you never know the impact that a truthful “thank you” can be.
How to prepare for the holidays? Whether is sequins, fur and heels or something more comfortable like a cool skirt and a chunky sweater, there is nothing that a black coat can’t fix. I do believe a good coat makes every winter outfit more tailored and elegant. No matter where you go, if it’s walking on the Highline Park (like today’s post) or a date night out, a black coat on top will do the work, including keeping you warm.
I’m thankful for my family,
for my friends,
for my boyfriend,
for health, love, and support,
for my career and my job,
and most importantly, I thank God for all the blessings.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Love,
S
